The decision of Apple to remove their products from China App Store is condemned by several Virtual Private Networks (VPNs).
The BBC follows that 60 VPNs were removed out from the App Store over the weekend.
Apple declared that it was legally essential to pull them out because of not following new rules and regulations.
They refused to tell the exact numbers of VPNs extracted but did not contest. They stated that there were still some legal apps available in the store.
A technology provider told that it would file an appeal regarding it.
What does VPN mean ?
VPNs permit users to disguise their identity online by directing web browsing or other online activities through computer or PC.
Consequently. the users can conceal or hide their IP addresses and have approached the online material which is blocked by their net service provider.
Which VPNs have been influenced ?
An analyzer company told BBC that nearly 60 VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) have been pulled out from the App Store in China.
Golden Frog company, the VyprVPN distributor, was unfavorable to the decision and claimed to file an appeal with Apple.
“If Apple continues viewing accessibility, we would expect that Apple will acknowledge the internet access as human rights and would prefer human rights to their profit”, stated Golden Frog’s President Sunday Yokubaitis.
ExpressVPN declared that it has been dismayed that the tech massive has sided with censorship. The applications are still available to use in App stores outside China.
By Whom VPNs are used in China and Their Reasons ?
China seems politically sensitive, using the complicated filter which is called the “Great Firewall” by the critics.
In its latest rankings, Freedom House (the advocacy group) declared China “the year’s worst offender regarding internet freedom”.
VPNs enable users to edge around these filters and have access and approach to the websites or links that have been blocked or restricted.
There is not any outright ban on Virtual Private Networks and many companies use them legally under the current regulations.
The recent push and force to constrict access have aimed and targeted VPNs which are used individually by the users.
Causes of removing VPNs from Apple store:
It was announced by Ministry of China that all the developers presenting VPNs have to gain the license from the authority.
And Apple declared that they had to remove some VPNs from the App Store because they didn’t follow the new rules and regulations.
But It is quite fair to say that Apple has many intentions to be cautious of sustaining Beijing’s annoyance.
In China, Much of the hardware is manufactured by the tech giant and it has become a major center for its products as well.
Keeping in view the low-cost local competitors intersecting the iPhone’s market share, Apple’s profits mostly rely on Apps and Services, some of which could be used under China’s censorship authority.
Recently, the first data center was also established by Apple in China, with the cooperation of local company Guizhou-Cloud Big Data Industry.
However, Apple has claimed to maintain the encryption keys and would not harm the users’ privacy, It is recommended by many experts that the housing data could pressurize to hand over the data in future.
Currently, Whatsapp attachments such as voice messages and images stopped running on Whatsapp.
The Chinese government has not committed that it was a part of their censorship authority but Whatsapp hasn’t created any suggestions or queries that it was a technical issue.
Social media sites and Apps, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter are blocked by Beijing.
Access to many Search Engines like Google and approach to many social media outlets along with BBC is banned.
They even blocked private messages, social media posts, and chat groups.
The government is supposed to constrict restrictions ahead of the new communist party, where President Xi Jinping overturns to maintain the top job.
