Apple sells its reconditioned iPhone 5 on eBay

This is not the first time that the two companies have joined forces for this type of sales; the operation had already been attempted two years ago. Our colleagues at Apple Insider made a rather interesting discovery this weekend; it seems that Apple and eBay have partnered to set up a kind of secret shop to highlight the refurbished iPhone 5 of the firm. The store, which is not on Apple’s behalf but “factory certified,” currently contains four iPhone 5 smartphones, all unlocked, refurbished, tested, repackaged and guaranteed a full year by Apple.

At 479 dollars the iPhone 5 32 GB refurbished by Apple and guaranteed one year, it must be admitted that the offer is rather exciting for those looking for a used iPhone in exquisite condition. For comparison, the same model can be found currently on the boncoin for a price close to 400 Euros, but without the Apple guarantee.

It is not the first time that Apple has created a shop on eBay since the operation had already been carried out in November 2012. At the time, it was possible to find MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iPad and iPod Touch Under the same conditions and the iPad and iPod Touch even shipped a new battery. Same thing in March 2013, the firm had created a shop on eBay to replace many refurbished products, and then, three months later, the store had completely disappeared from the radars of the Internet.

A few months from the supposed release of the iPhone 6, we can assume that Apple is looking to liquidate its inventory of iPhone 5 reconditioned or even new iPhone 5. Quickly ousted from the Apple Store following the release of the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5S, the iPhone 5 had indeed not been able to serve as an entry-level Smartphone and it is likely that Apple still has a lot Of devices on the arms. Today, only the owners of iPhone 5 can still “afford” a new iPhone 5, the device being still offered as a replacement following a breakdown or breakage.
